Roberta Kaplan, the former Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison litigator who successfully argued before the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act, is expanding her 1-year-old litigation boutique and rebranding the firm to include the name of a new hire from Debevoise & Plimpton.

New York’s Kaplan & Company is now Kaplan Hecker & Fink, adding former Debevoise white-collar partner Sean Hecker to the masthead along with co-founding partner Julie Fink.

Kaplan left Paul Weiss to found the firm last July with Fink, another Paul Weiss veteran who was working in-house at Pfizer, and two other lawyers. With the addition of another new partner, Jenna Dabbs, a former federal prosecutor who most recently worked as senior counsel at Pershing Square Capital Management, the firm now boasts 14 attorneys.
