NEW YORK, NY, July 21, 2021 – Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP is pleased to announce that partners Joshua Matz and John Quinn have been named to 6th edition of Benchmark Litigation’s 2021 40 & Under Hot List. The 40 & Under Hot List recognizes the most notable up-and-coming litigation attorneys in the United States who have had a hand in some of their firms’ most noteworthy recent cases and have earned praise from clients and peers regarding the quality of their work. This year’s honorees were selected through several phases of research, including case work and peer reviews, as well as client feedback.

Benchmark Litigation highlighted Joshua Matz for the second consecutive year as “one of the nation’s emerging constitutional litigators. Matz took a leave of absence from the firm in early 2021 to serve as Impeachment Counsel to the House Judiciary Committee for the second Senate trial of former President Donald Trump. In recent years, Matz has litigated on a variety of high profile commercial and civil rights issues, including the recent landmark Supreme Court decision which protecting LGBTQ employees from workplace discrimination. Matz works from both the firm's New York and Washington, D.C. offices in addition to serving as a professor at Georgetown Law School.”

The publication recognized John Quinn as “a new addition to this year's list, John Quinn represents clients in a variety of high-profile civil matters as well as spearheading a number of the firm's public interest causes. Quinn was part of the firm's team that represented Airbnb in a highly-publicized lawsuit against New York City. The case dealt with a city ordinance which would have required Airbnb ‘hosts’ to turn over private information to the city government on a monthly basis. A preliminary injunction was granted which blocked the law from taking effect, eventually leading to a highly favorable settlement for Airbnb.”
