As part of our Black History Month programming, Kaplan Hecker & Fink welcomed New York University School of Law Professor Melissa Murray to the firm to discuss the state of diversity at law schools and law firms, as well as what we at KHF can do to support and encourage diverse talent to join and thrive in the legal profession. KHF Of Counsel Trevor Morrison, who is Dean Emeritus and a Professor of Law at NYU School of Law, moderated the discussion.

Murray is a leading expert in constitutional law, family law, and reproductive rights and justice. Her award-winning research focuses on the legal regulation of intimate life and encompasses such topics as the regulation of sex and sexuality, marriage and its alternatives, the marriage equality debate, the legal recognition of caregiving, and reproductive rights and justice. She is also the faculty director of the Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Network at NYU. Prior to coming to NYU, Murray was on the law faculty at UC Berkeley School of Law, where she also served as interim dean.
