Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP was recognized as one of this week’s “Legal Lions” by Law360 for securing the dismissal of a whistleblower suit on behalf of our client AECOM. AECOM, a prominent government contractor, had been sued under the False Claims Act in relation to alleged false billing practices. U.S. District Judge Louis L. Stanton found that the Government had been aware of the conduct in question and had continued payment on AECOM’s $1.9 billion contract with the U.S. Army, showing that the alleged breach was “not material and therefore not actionable under the [False Claims Act].” Lawyers from Kaplan Hecker had previously persuaded the Government to decline to intervene in the matter.

Jenna Dabbs, Sean Hecker, and Ben White contributed to the case.
