Kaplan Hecker & Fink Partner Joshua Matz was quoted in The New York Times article, “Senate Looks to Quickly Reject Mayorkas Impeachment Charges in Speedy Trial.”

Joshua spoke with The New York Times about the Senate leadership’s plan to quickly dismiss the two articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas approved earlier this week by the House of Representatives.

“There is substantial precedent for considering motions to dismiss at various stages of impeachment trials. If you are charged criminally and the court dismisses the indictment on the grounds that the charges that you were charged with failed as a matter of law, you’ve been acquitted.”
