This Monday, Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP founding partner Roberta Kaplan will receive the Office of the Appellate Defender (OAD)’s prestigious Gould Award for Outstanding Oral Advocacy as part of OAD’s 27th Annual “First Monday in October” Virtual Gala and Mock Supreme Court Argument. The award, which will also be presented to Sharon Nelles of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, is awarded annually to “two of the nation’s most accomplished legal advocates.” As part of the gala, Kaplan and Nelles will also present arguments in Baxter v. Bracey, a case that questions the validity and scale of the doctrine of qualified immunity.
The virtual gala will be broadcast at 7:00 pm on Monday, October 5th, and donations support the work of OAD, a national leader in “effective, innovative, and holistic” representation of indigent criminal defendants. For more information, and to register, click here.
