Maximilian Crema

Max Crema is an associate at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP.

His practice focuses on high-stakes commercial litigation and progressive public interest matters. He also represents individuals in civil and criminal matters. Max joined the firm after completing clerkships with the Hon. M. Margaret McKeown of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Hon. Leo T. Sorokin of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Max’s writings have appeared in the Virginia Law Review and the Alabama Law Review.

Max received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was Executive Articles Editor for the Georgetown Law Journal. At law school, Max was awarded the Robert J. Beaudry Best Oral Advocate Award and the Dean’s Certificate for Outstanding Service to the Georgetown Law Community, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. Max speaks conversational Dutch and received his M.A., with honors, from the University of Edinburgh.

In addition to maintaining an active pro bono practice, Max has worked for a number of political campaigns, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress, Hillary for America, Tiffany Cabán for District Attorney, and Julia Salazar for State Senator. He previously worked on voting rights issues at the Brennan Center for Justice and the American Civil Liberties Union.
