Michael DeLuca is a supervisory case manager at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP.

Michael began his career as a paralegal specialist in the Terrorism and International Narcotics Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. In that role, he supported government attorneys in their investigations and prosecutions of a variety of national security matters in collaboration with New York City’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. Michael has worked on several federal criminal trials, including those related to a terrorist attack bombing in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan in 2016 and an attempted suicide bombing in the Times Square subway station in 2017. Michael was awarded the U.S. Department of Justice Director’s Award for Superior Performance by a Litigative Team in recognition for his service.

Michael is joining Kaplan Hecker after completing a master’s degree in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing as a Schwarzman Scholar. Through the Schwarzman program, he received a one-year scholarship to study global leadership, the accessibility of legal services in China, and the use of emerging technologies in Chinese courts. Michael is a graduate of New York University, where he earned his B.A. in Politics and Mandarin Chinese cum laude and with high honors in Politics. He is proficient in Mandarin Chinese.
