Monique S. Peterkin is an associate at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP.  She joined the firm after completing a clerkship with the Honorable George B. Daniels of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Monique is a graduate of the Howard University School of Law, where she ranked 4th in her graduating class and was a six-time recipient of the CALI Award for the highest grade in a course.  At Howard, Monique was the Editor in Chief of the Howard Law Journal, provided research assistance to Professors Patricia Worthy and Harold McDougall, and also worked as a Teacher’s Assistant to Professor McDougall.  She also interned during law school for the Honorable Denny Chin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, served as an extern for the Federal Judges Association, and volunteered as a student teacher at the Thurgood Marshall Academy.  Her Comment, “'I’m on Fire’: A Call to Eradicate Excessive Solitary Confinement Sentences for Nonviolent Offenses,” was published in Volume 60, Issue 3 of the Howard Law Journal.

Monique began her legal career at Davis Polk & Wardwell, LLP.  She received her B.A., magna cum laude, from the Ithaca College School of Business.
