Morgan Awner is a case manager at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP.

Morgan graduated from Brown University Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Public Policy and Latin American and Caribbean studies. She received a U.S. Fulbright Scholarship in 2021. While in college, she served as a researcher for the Honorable Judge Alexandra Robert Gordon of the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco. In that role, she researched the effect of state-level “zero tolerance” policies on the school-to-prison pipeline, conducted in-depth legal research, and tracked litigation using legal research tools. This research turned into a year-long capstone project on the juvenile legal system, along with legislative work with the Formerly Incarcerated Union of Rhode Island. She has also completed policy- and advocacy-focused internships for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Gender Equality Network, the Office of Congressman David N. Cicilline (RI-I), The Civics Center, and the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, and volunteered as a field organizing fellow for a statewide political campaign.

While at Brown, Morgan held leadership roles in the Providence Student Union and Brown College Democrats, worked as a podcast host and staff writer for the Brown Political Review, and was a coxswain on the Division I Brown University Crew team. She spent a semester abroad enrolled at Pontificá Universidad Católica in Santiago, Chile and speaks conversational Spanish.
