Kaplan Hecker founding partner Roberta (“Robbie”) Kaplan joined her dear friend, journalist Dahlia Lithwick on the podcast “Amicus with Dahlia Lithwick” to discuss the fourth chapter of Dahlia’s new book, Lady Justice: Women, the Law, and the Battle to Save America.  The podcast examines the legal strategy behind the successful lawsuit against twenty-four white supremacist leaders and organizations responsible for organizing the racial- and religious-based violence in Charlottesville in August 2017, which resulted in a $26 million verdict for the plaintiffs.  Dahlia’s new book tells the stories of women lawyers who decided to fight back against the tidal wave of hatred, racism, sexism, anti-Semitism and xenophobia of the last six years, including Robbie, her decision to start Kaplan, Hecker, her “crazy” idea to sue those responsible for the conspiracy to commit racially-motivated violence in Charlottesville, as well as her experience building the team, litigating the case against literal neo-Nazis, and then trying it before a jury.
