NEW YORK, NY, February 11, 2021 – Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP is proud to announce that partner John Quinn has been named a 2021 Community Excellence Award recipient by the LGBT Bar Association Foundation of Greater New York (LeGaL). The award, limited to five honorees, recognizes New York LGBTQ+ legal professionals across all fields of practice for their commitment to the LGBTQ+ community and for high achievement in the profession.

LeGaL highlighted Quinn’s accomplishments, noting: “As a litigator, John has achieved remarkable success for his clients—including tech companies, start-ups, celebrities and public figures, a group of Mississippi LGBTQ youth opposing the denial of a license to hold a pride parade, and a group of individuals who were defrauded by the Trump organization. John is a mentor to LGBTQ students and a board member of the Ali Forney Center, the largest LGBTQ youth homelessness shelter, community center, and services organization in the country.”

Matthew Skinner, Chair of LeGaL’s Awards Committee said of the 2021 honorees: “It was no easy task selecting the honorees given the outstanding set of nominations we were presented with, but we were especially impressed by the extraordinary dedication to the diverse legal needs of the LGBTQ community that we saw in these individuals. Charlie, Deborah, Daniel, John, and Ethan make us proud to be LGBTQ attorneys.”

Recipients of Community Excellence Awards will be celebrated and recognized at LeGaL’s annual gala in February.
